Veteran Home Care in North Georgia

elderly veteran at home

Our veterans gave everything in service to this country. As they age or face health challenges, they deserve care that honors that sacrifice — in the comfort of their own homes, surrounded by the people they love.

If you're a veteran or the family member of one in North Georgia, you may be surprised to learn just how many home care benefits are available to you. At Another Rose Home Care, we're proud to serve veterans across our community, and we want to make sure every family knows what they're entitled to.

Why Home Care Matters for Veterans

Veterans often face a unique set of challenges as they age, including:

  • Physical disabilities or injuries sustained during service

  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and mental health conditions

  • Traumatic brain injuries (TBI)

  • Higher rates of chronic conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and respiratory illness

  • Social isolation, especially for veterans living alone

In-home care allows veterans to receive the support they need while maintaining independence, dignity, and connection to their community. Explore our full range of care services to see how we support veterans in North Georgia.

VA Benefits That May Cover Home Care

1. VA Home Health Care Services

The VA provides skilled home health care — including nursing, physical therapy, and aide services — to eligible veterans who are homebound or have difficulty traveling to VA medical centers.

2. Aid and Attendance (A&A) Benefit

The Aid and Attendance pension provides additional monthly income to veterans (and surviving spouses) who need help with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, eating, or medication management.

To qualify, a veteran generally must:

  • Require assistance with activities of daily living, OR

  • Be bedridden or in a nursing home, OR

  • Have limited eyesight

This benefit can be used to pay for in-home care services, including those provided by Another Rose.

3. Housebound Benefit

For veterans substantially confined to their home due to a permanent disability, the Housebound benefit provides additional pension income toward home care costs.

4. Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC)

This VA program supports family members who serve as caregivers for eligible veterans — including a monthly stipend, health insurance, respite care, mental health services, and caregiver training.

5. Veteran-Directed Care Program

This program gives veterans a self-directed budget to hire and manage their own home care workers — including family members in some cases.

Steps to Access VA Home Care Benefits

  1. Contact your local VA Medical Center — In North Georgia, the closest facilities include the Atlanta VA Health Care System and the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin, GA.

  2. Request a needs assessment — A VA social worker or care coordinator will evaluate your loved one's needs.

  3. Apply for the Aid and Attendance benefit — Requires VA Form 21-2680 completed by a physician.

  4. Work with a VA-accredited claims agent or VSO — Organizations like the American Legion, DAV, or VFW can help at no cost.

  5. Contact Another Rose — We can work directly with families to coordinate care. Visit our Contact page to get started, or learn about partnering with us if you work in veteran services.

Non-VA Options for Veterans in North Georgia

  • Georgia Medicaid Waiver Programs — Including the CCSP, which can fund in-home care for eligible low-income veterans.

  • Long-term care insurance — If the veteran holds a policy, it may cover home care costs.

  • Private pay — For veterans who need immediate care while applications are pending.
